Have you chosen the right career? Or even the right YOU?

This is an eternal problem. It’s a problem which we confront whether it’s about your career, about your partner or about your business.

How can you tell if it’s really the right one for you?  Or might it be a choice that other people have told you to do? And that will eventually lead you to disappointment, possibly depression, and certainly failure.

But there really is quite an easy way to figure this all out. It all comes down to finding in-depth your true Narrative Capital, not the stories you’ve been told since your childhood or by your friends, and that you might still believe in today, but the ones that you are living through experience.

That experience will reveal to you and help you align yourself with what you do. It’s really the key to who you truly are and not who you think you are or not who you think you’re supposed to be.

Today's Exercise

Here’s a little exercise to help you along to figure this out for yourself. Okay, are you ready?

For one week, keep a simple two-column list. In column A, write the activities in your daily life, whatever it is that really drains you, that really weighs on you.

And in column B, write all the things that energize you, even if they’re small things, the things that excite you.

At the end of the week, look at the energizing column and pick three things in that column and ask yourself, “in what jobs or roles or context would I be able to use this energy in”?

Is the job I’m doing right now or the one I’m training for, the right one that allows me to express that energy? This will help you realize something about your choices: are they aligned with your energy?

And that’s really what Narrative Capital is all about.
